Add copyright notice to a web page

It is strongly recommended that you protect your work online from copyright infringement, by placing copyright notices to them.

In this article, I'd like to just share on how to include a copyright notice to your blogs or web pages, one on every page will suffice.

To do that, you'll need to add the copyright symbol © besides other text. The usual format would be to include the following in sequence:
  1. the word, Copyright
  2. the copyright symbol, ©
  3. the year of publication
  4. the copyright owner's name
  5. the statement (this is optional). An example of a simple cover all statement will be 'All rights reserved'.

How to type the copyright symbol

Illustrating a Copyright Symbol

There may be times where you'll need to type the copyright symbol, the circled C (©) on your images that you want to upload online, probably even on a text document, website or blog to indicate your copyright.

Just learnt today that it can be easily done on my iMac keyboard and thought I'd share it here.

Frankly, I've been using Mac for slightly more than 1 year now, but had not bothered to find out what keyboard keys to use to type this symbol. Can't believe that I've procrastinated far too long, choosing to remain ignorant of such a simple task, until someone wise me up on this matter.

Create a free blog with Blogger

Interested to start your own blog? Well, it can be simply and easily done. There are a quite a number of free blogging services such as Blogger, TypePad and LiveJournal that you can choose from.

Don't know much about the last two, but I can ascertain that Blogger which is Google's free tool for blogging, provides one of the easiest way to set up a blog. Moreover, it is reliably hosted by Google Blogger on blogspot.com and Blogger is always continually improving and upgrading its services for the benefit of its users. I've been blogging with Blogger since late 2005 and am most satisfied, more so now with its new blogger layout features that keeps me mentally exhilarated and stimulated. :-D

Okay, back to creating your free blog at Blogger. Follow these 3 easy steps :
  1. Create an account
  2. Name your blog
  3. Choose a template
Simple and fast, done in a jiffy! However, best that I elaborate a little to guide you along the process of creating a blog.
  1. To start, go to Blogger's Homepage, https://www.blogger.com/. But, I'd suggest that you watch its video tutorial on how to create a blog first, to familiarize and get a better overall view.

  2. Next, you'll need a Google account before you can create a blog.

Screen capture on 'Create a Google Account'(a) If you already have a Google Account, perhaps from Gmail or other free Google products, type in your 'Username' and 'Password' and click 'Sign In', at the top right corner; OR

    (b) if you don't have a Google account, click the 'Create A Blog' button, to easily lead you to create a Google account. Assuming that you already have an existing email address, fill in the details as required and click the 'Continue' arrow.
(Just in case, you don't have an email address, you may want to sign up for a Gmail account here which will give you the Google Account. You can then use your Gmail username and password to sign in at Step 2(a) above)
  3. Then, you'll be directed to 'Name Your Blog'. Before you key-in the blog name and address, click on the 'Learn more' link to know what is a URL. Click 'Continue' arrow when all's done.

Screen capture on 'Name Your Blog'
  4. Final step is 'Choose A Template'. Scroll down to see the available templates in Blogger's library, click to preview template to help make your selection. Click on the circle next to the name of the template you've chosen, and end by clicking on the 'Continue' arrow. Voila...your blog is now created and ready for you to start posting.
  5. If you're not ready to do a post as yet, just sign out.
  6. Whenever you're ready to do a post, just sign in again at http://www.blogger.com/.

Jacq's blog on blogging tips

I'm not a computer wizard or HTML person at all, just a resourceful and persevering learner who's always very keen to improve as best as I could, from online or elsewhere.

Screen shot of my oldest blog's new Blogger Layouts FeaturesHaving recently upgraded my oldest blog's template to a newer version, I'm dazzled by all the new blogger layout features made available to us all. Simply awesome.

And, as I learn and try out more of these fantastic features, html and other related matters the hard way through much trial and error, I strongly feel that it's such a waste if I don't compile and share them. Knowledge is useless unless shared!

Some of them could appear too simple to do, to some bloggers perhaps, but if you're not exposed to them or have not attempted thus far, they can be very intimidating. I've realized this for a fact, as I continue to teach a friend who's new to blogging. Even as simple as how-to create a blog can be so daunting or seemingly impossible for newbies.

Thus, I've decided to do just that...try my best to share whatever I've learned along the way, from the very basics and will include some handy blogging tips, tricks and techniques whenever I can. This is also another way of improving myself and to acquire more knowledge and hopefully be more competent in blogging, html and blog design.

Moreover, I always believe that there's much joy in sharing than receiving!

That's how the idea of creating another blog, specifically for this purpose was conceived.

Ta...da...here it is, the creation of my newest blog, Jacq's Blogger Tips!
